Services and Care for Developmentally Disabled Children and Adults

Day of Caring 2014

When you volunteer your time to share your talents, compassion and enthusiasm with children and adults with developmental challenges, you help them live happier lives. In return, they make your life better too.

We are always looking for positive volunteers for short term projects. Some of the projects include assisting teachers in the classroom, helping adult clients, campus beautification, pet therapy, and assisting at community and fundraising events. If you are interested, please fill out a volunteer application form and mail it to 916 West Chapel Rd, Asheville, NC 28803, or bring to the Administrative Office on Rose Street. (Hours are 8:00 AM-4:30 PM.) You may also fax it to 828-274-1582, or scan and email to ecampbell@iwcnc.org. For volunteer groups, please contact Eleanor Campbell, Volunteer Coordinator, directly at 828-274-6053.

Because of the nature of the work, some people may need to complete a Background Check and Confidentiality Agreement prior to volunteering with the Center. Also, proof of prior immunizations and/or vaccinations may be required for certain positions. For Pet Therapy, we will need a copy of your pet therapy certification from an accredited agency, and proof of current rabies vaccination.
